We were supposed to leave for Mysore at 8am. I was up at 7,
still buzzed from the night before. It was a great night and when I woke up I
had forgotten all about the olives and wine that was left for me by
housekeeping the night before. You know, something I noticed is the fact that
all of the workers here, with the exception of a few desk clerks, are men. They
are all really good at what they do too! Manjathanu was my room keeper and
whenever I saw him he would ask me how his cleaning was. “Very good” I’d
respond.
We didn’t leave until shortly after 10am. Vishal arrived for
Ashlee, Allen, and myself and as we went outside we saw the vehicle we would be
traveling in, a Toyota Qualis. The three of us got the middle seat while
Renold, Prajish, Anish, and Srinivas were crammed in the very back. Dada had
arranged a driver for us – a very quiet one if I might add. The trip to Mysore
from Bangalore is about 140km’s, or 87 miles. Traffic wasn’t too bad so it only
took us about two hours to reach our destination. Ashlee, Allen and myself joked about South Park episodes
nearly the whole way there. ;)
We had a lot of fun visiting the Infosys campus in Mysore, as well as the Mysore Palace. After we left the Palace, we stopped at a small restaurant. Ashlee and I were waiting to have the Chinese at the Taj, so we decided only to have some King Fishers. Allen had some curry pork, which later made him extremely sick. By the time we got back to the hotel, he had to go to the hospital. Poor guy! Fortunately, it wasn't dysentery like he thought. Here are some pictures from today's outing. We first went to the Infosys campus. The architecture was absolutely stunning! Next we went to Mysore Palace. Again, stunning! The highlight was the elephant ride. See video below..
