India Day 9 (Trip 1 - 10.19.2008)

After yesterday’s hiccups, I was hoping to get out and see some better parts of Bangalore. Allen and I had planned on meeting at noon to go out shopping. We were on the hunt for a hookah bar, which we later learned had been banned, like many of the other things here in Bangalore. While we were hanging out I received a call from Ashlee….yay she made it!!! I learned that her suitcase containing all of her toiletries hadn’t made it to Bangalore from Frankfurt. She decided to join us on our shopping trip...with only one request…”can I use some of your deodorant?” haha…

It was nice to see her and hear about the grueling journey she had had (well that part was unfortunate). I guess this is the feeling Judy had when Allen and I first arrived. We were so excited to see her reaction to everything. Once again, I was happy to have Allen near, especially when the auto rickshaw drivers won’t take no for an answer. Damn they are persistent.

Today was an exceptionally muggy one and since clouds filled the sky, we carried some borrowed umbrellas with us just in case…can you say Tourists?! We walked down MG Road to part of Brigade. We ended up finding a really cool Tibetan shop and bought some trinkets. On the way back to the hotel we stopped at an Emporium, where most of our shopping was done. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect because as soon as we entered the store it started to pour.

After shopping, rest was on my mind. Later in the evening we met our EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Asia) coworkers from the Dublin office for dinner at the Memories of China restaurant at the hotel. We were really excited because it opens at 7pm and during the week we are already gone to the office by then. I told Ashlee that she was going to love Colin, because he is such a hoot. I was right! Dinner was fun and we had some yummy wine and great food. Damn bill was around 5000 rupees. Anyhoo, after dinner we stopped in to the Ice Bar to have some more drinks. Ashlee and I ended up splitting a trio of Martini’s and crossed our fingers that we wouldn’t get sick over the chillness of it all. It really is pretty at night by the pool with all the green lighting. So, tomorrow should be fun. After all getting back on the schedule usually is. J

Colin was leaving the next day, which explains Judy's pout...

Here are some pics from around the city today. Hope you enjoy….

I cringed when I saw this little boy crossing the street. In this pic it doesn’t look too busy but it was…
